christie’s lates: london pride.

I took part in an insightful panel discussion alongside artist and curator Victoria Cantons and author James Cahill, unpacking the complexities of identity, labeling, and artistic expression. The conversation explored how creators are often placed into categories—whether based on their background, identity, or artistic style—and the impact this has on their careers, creative freedom, and public perception. I shared my own experiences as a queer British South Asian artist and social entrepreneur, highlighting the challenges of balancing personal authenticity with external expectations. The panel also discussed the power of reclaiming labels as a means of self-definition, resisting industry gatekeeping, and fostering more inclusive creative spaces.
